i just got this off another site could it realy help us ????
OUR PROBLEMS COULD BE OVER . . .
I am trying hard not to sound too optimistic, but I have been reading up and making enquiries about a "Pest Deterrent" that was created to rid the world of unwanted pigeons, and all the advertising bumf says it will do FOR pigeons what we have been trying to do to PEREGRINES and other BOP. It says:
New formula silver Bird Free : easier to apply, even more discreet.
Birds see ultraviolet light so Bird Free appears to them as fire. In April 2011, when the first reports emerged of the remarkable abilities of Bird Free to deter birds, even from long-standing nesting sites, the press dubbed it ‘fire gel’. New formula silver Bird Free works on the same principle, but is more discreet and easier to use.
Since it was introduced into the UK two years ago, Bird Free has become recognised throughout the UK, and Europe, as an effective, yet unobtrusive, bird control method: well-known installations sites include Covent Garden Market and Paddington Station in London, Mont St Michel in Normandy, Chateau de Chambord in the Loire Valley, Lutyens’ Thiepval Memorial in Picardie, Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and St Andrew’s University in Scotland, where it is keeping the gulls away.
Today, (at Pest Ex 2013), we are pleased to unveil our new, silver-coloured ‘fire gel’, 小島Bird Free™. While the method of deterrence remains the same, notable improvements have been made to the formula, making it easier to apply and even more discreet.
Bird Free keeps all birds off all structures without harming them. It does so by altering their behaviour, not by acting as a physical barrier. Birds will completely desert a habitat, even one they have been using for years, once Bird Free has been applied.
Bird Free gel is generally applied in low-profile application dishes, only 12mm high. One of its distinct advantages is that it deters birds from landing even when these dishes are placed behind the leading edge of a parapet or ledge. This makes the dishes of Bird Free invisible from ground level, thus preserving the aesthetic appearance of the building, while at the same time keeping it clean.
Bird Free is quick and easy to install. It can be used indoors or outdoors and causes no damage to buildings or structures.
Developed in Japan, 小島Bird Free has been installed at thousands of commercial sites worldwide over the last fourteen years. These include airports, military installations, government offices, sports stadiums, railway stations, hospitals, factories, motorway toll booths, pylons, bridges, historic buildings, and many other locations where birds had previously been a nuisance or a health hazard.
Especially formulated to be more durable, even in the most exposed locations, silver 小島Bird Free is not adversely affected by extremes of temperature, nor by wind, rain or snow.
小島 Bird Free’s deterrent effect on birds is long-lasting. Left undisturbed, it will remain completely effective for at least two years after proper installation, even in the most exposed environment. There are installations in Japan that remain effective after seven years.
Now, don't go barmy, running about screaming "we got the bas tards". This is going to take thought and cooperation from a lot of people, but it begins to look as if we might just be lucky and have the tail of the tiger within our grasp. SH are the easy ones, loft protection is now within individual owner's grasps. More thought is needed in how to deal with Percy, but it can be done. All we really need, without starting a War, is to send Percy back to his native haunts and away from ours. No more, no less. Watch this space.
