is anyone considering stopping some young birds now they are over the 100 miles stage, mine will be over 200 miles next week so still thinking what to do ?, as I have 30 plus yearlings left, not to mention the 2 year olds so will already have a strong team for next season Basketball cheers

i stopped mine after Saturday never had them on dark or anything only had two races 70 miles then 120 on Saturday

For me Steve - if you have a few you rally fancy for next year, then hold those back a bit. But maybe not just yet. How far could your young birds go this year? If it were me, I would race the rest right through the y/b program, unless they are falling apart or have got down to their last three flights.

On the continent - they race young birds up to 500 kilometres ( about 310 miles) and sometimes beyond that. The good ones make it and the rubbish gets left behind.

I trust this helps a bit.

All my birds have had one race up to 141 miles some have had 2 from 141. So they have had 3 or 4 races So stopped the lot for next year now as they are molting out bad

lads at the club said try a few more races out of them first was weatherby 72 miles 18 back out of 25
next was thorsby hall think 120 miles 9 back out of 18 then on Saturday another thorsby hall not sure to send yet

same here john only had 2 races we start yb racing quite late a few may go nest week but generally to far gone in the moult now ...nevermind could not be helped will have darkies next year cheers

Mine are darkness youngsters and are lmaculate condition and could go out to coutances with Midland national 305 miles I was just wondering what others were doing thanks for the addvice but not realy needed cheers

we have had darkies out to Berwick over 300 miles to me but too much going on this year for darkies what with one thing and another and family comes first good luck to all with their yearlings next year whatever you have done or planning to do Smile good luck with the longer yb races edgie Smile their the most exciting

Yes Darren like you say the longer races are best. Personally I don't like y.bird racing.even though I know what I'm doing.it's not the birds it's me that lacks the.motivation since being diagnosed with diabetes and having 2 bad legs plus other stuff going on  I'm getting fed up of being in pain and tired all the time ? But we struggle on lol! cheers

We try to get ours all the way with having a big team and for experience for following season as well..This year I might be stopping some though but everything else will do about 240 miles

for a lot of years I did not race my birds so, called top pigeon men would not let me in there clubs, that's one of the reasons I came to live here,i am now enjoying my sport, and making them back home eat there words , and as I told them at the bagining of there jealosy they should hang there heads in shame,they are not fit to be called pigeon men. Laughing believe me im having the last laugh. lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol!
