| On average - How long do birds take to fully Moult?
What are the last feathers to be replaced?
Have a GREAT day everyone.

| main flights are last to go ybs take around 9 weeks on the darkness system so couple of months I would say never really looked into it had no need so long as they moult well 1 or 2 birds will vary anyhow and will depend when breeding ceased if parted early I would think they will moult quicker by 1 or 2 weeks but probably only because they would have started moulting earlier atb |

| it takes 6 weeks to grow a new feather, but the big moult takes a little loger , it is a very stresfull time for a bird . |

| Thanks for the feedback guys.
I have found that the bids do not really fly too much when they really get into the moult.
I have another question regarding the Moult -
If one has late-breds and they don't get right trough the moult before winter. Will they be OK for the next year?
I bought a couple of late-breds in March this year that still had 3 flights to go. They started moulting this year by dropping the remaining few flights. Is that normal?
OK everyone - have a good one - and remember - you can't get this day back, so take FULL advantage of every day.

| the problem with late breds moulting is you have to keep a close eye on them if you want to race them ,as they will tend to drop 2 flights at once ,witch is painfull for the bird , and it does not have the power in its wings as it should ? ,but yes you can race them and some do well ,I once had a 9 month old late bred that flew the programme and scord well at 340 miles and 407 miles while still carrying 4 nest flights , but I must admit not many will do that ? . |

| I never worry about moulting, nature will make the pigeon moult if they are healthy, only time ive known a pigeon stop moulting is if it is ill... |
