| Looking forward to next year. With that in mind, pulled out some old pedigrees. Interesting! 2005 Belge 4081109 De Muelemeester Gaby & Zoon. Still have offspring here. Do not usually keep the peds up to date. Red Jannsens are basically one family. Gallez birds. Few crosses, van Loon, Aarden etc,. Too much brain work to sift through them all and mate them. So I thought why breed backwards? Those originals are history now. The ones that have been doing the winning are usually reds. As stated, same family. So the best four racing cocks are 3 reds, 1 blue. They are in the stock loft now. Have other good racers but another year or so before I retire them. So red to red plus the blue is the way I am going. Also the parents of them. Have to concentrate the genes, good or bad. Will float eggs so 4 young from each. Very reluctant to breed a lot of young from racers in “hope”. Most fanciers do. I have done it for years. No more. Another small Opossum in the live trap today. Two dogs threw the trap around and scared the crap out of it. Got the dogs in and shook the Possum out. It was so terrified he just lay there. Playing Possum! Just let him go. Those eyes so scared, had not the heart to nuke it. Yeah, getting soft! Anyway, my good deed for the day. Celebrated with a beer! |
