First week in December. Stock birds. Only ones I will breed off this year. Band 1st week in January. Wean about Feb 7 to 14th. They will all be on the floor, straw covered. Lights are on the cocks and hens now.
Racers will mate up before moving young birds over. They will be on boiled eggs. Then manipulate them for the races. ie 10 day eggs, hatching etc,.
Weaned young will just get regular light. Longest day of summer will keep to that length of light until end of season. Simple way.

Yep I used to be mainly sprint in the 80s 90s but once I started timing from 400 plus
I became more and more interested in longer distance and less in sprint.

I wasn't bothered about distance racing when I re started with pigeons a few years ago, I went for the sprint type birds, staff van reets etc, I also have janssens which I know still do pretty well over the channel so I dare say I might gradually get to enter the longer races once I get back into the hang of racing again.

ive not raced them yet f/walker, ive bred quite a few for other fanciers and some have done ok, but nothing amazing.......I bought them around 2 years ago so this season coming will the first time I will have tried them my self, although I wont be relying on just them, I`ll be also breeding off my janssens as well.
