some that were paired together last year are no bother at all its just the nutty one or two yearlings that can be abit testing...but once all down on eggs its soon forgotten till next year

Most of my stock birds are on eggs. Do not expect 2 from each. Weather is too cold.

Beginning of febuary. I was told , since my breeders are virginal to give them a chance to freeze some eggs. Got to start adding light gradually over the next 4 weeks? I'm going to buy rings this weekend

M interested in what hal says too. I was told they have a tendency not to sit on eggs enough when cold. Had to order some pigeon stuff yesterday. I was hoping to wait

I would think once they start sitting both eggs most should be okay..maybe better to remove 1st egg to somewhere warmer till send egg is laid....

Makes sense FW. I'll do that. What I really need to do is buy some breeding record forms |

Im at my allotment on my phone dunno if i can send a template...can do from laptop Thanks FW. I'll do that also. I've tried the American racing unions website. My tablet doesn't like that place much for some reason. I've got to get a laptop |

cocci the birds today and worm them on Saturday ,looks like I will be pairing up on the 12th of January handled the birds today and breakfast is off the menu for the foreseeable future a few on the heavy side but not overly bothered a week to 10 days of a lighter mix should bring them down to a ideal weight ...a few cocks are a bit heavy

Mine on barley for a couple of days a little bit heavy but that will soon come off.... Stock pigeons roaring like lions...and thats the hens just waiting for the new arrivals to settle in a few days before pairing them... Race team the next day but more laid back..just drop the flap and its take your partners for a tango lol

Banded first 2 today. Some younger birds, not winter bred before, hatched 1 young bird each. With the wind chill factor minus 34 C here. The birds sit tight. There are drawbacks to winter breeding. Changed the light bulbs under the waterers to 60 watt. The top part of the waterer, about a third, solid ice. Advantages are, older young birds to race, better health as no bugs/bacteria survive in this cold. Much better immune system. ie more exposure to emerging bugs/bacteria as the weather warms. Never had a youngbird freeze in the nest, far as I can remember.
