| Had a young white freeze in the nest last night. Nestmate a dark red survived OK. 16 days old or so as usual. Cock chasing hen they do not sit them as before. Maybe the darker colour helps warm them? Have lost perhaps a dozen so far. Cut the legs off the dead ones and re-use the bands. Have bred at this particular time for years now. Lose maybe one. Much colder than other years. Will not happen again. Stick with nature. Not complaining at all as such. Learning. I assume hot weather constantly has its own set of problems. Learn by our mistakes. Just wonder if the 8 survivors so far will perform better or worse than ones hatching now and later? Live and learn!! |

| The dark red. Survivor. Lack of parental care? Missed the company? Dropped to the nest box below. Cock killed the intruder. Â How did the YB get in? Have a perch in front of every box. Tomorrow no more perches there on boxes. Â Taboo or not. If any one can learn from my mistakes then good. Cannot change the weather but can and will change management practises. The ones that give me negative results. |

| Strong wind all day, good kite flying weather providing you have a strong arm.
Forecast diabolical, strong winds, snow, freezing then worse to come.
Ah, well.
Regards. |

uk comes to a standstill with a couple of centimetres of snow..........our tax money is apparently not enough to cover the cost of gritting the roads, as often as they should be. |

| Windy, rain, cold, does not lift the spirit when thinking of the daffs and other flowers now in bloom, buds on pear tree, hope all survive.
Regards.

| I like all flowers, David.
Including dandy lions, which is a liking shared by my rabbits.
We put a rose tree in the garden in memory of our much loved border collie, it flowers early and has rose hips on now, having flowered until December, been in the garden for 10 years.
It may be interesting as a side line to know the flowers our fellow fanciers like best.
Regards.

| Wonderful site to a have a rape field and a hemp field both in bloom in the same proximity.
In our area there are more rape fields than ever previously, not as colourful as the hemp but changes the look of the country side for the better.

| Likewise, fieldwalker, only seen it once myself and had no idea what it was, but a real eye opener.

| Local fields full of rapeseed. Hay fever problems for some who live nearby, pleased i don't suffer from it. Be some local honey like cats p##s. Does look bonny though when it flowers. , |

| Think rape seed is a cash crop and has become more popular every year, you can look at acres of farmland around here at the right time and it is almost a yellow blanket, field after field, never used to be so.
