| Hi Peeps
Im into 4th race of the season and my birds don't seem to want to stop out for long flying around the house. i give them the same about of food as normal, i give them glucose arrival day for recovery second day get bath and relax then they get multivitamins and garlic for 2 days before basketing and then clean water on day they go. i have noticed in past week they fly 10 mins around house then want to land and go in. some one said give something for respiratory not sure what to give for that any advice would help |

| are they still paired up ,if so maybe the cocks are driving the hens to nest again or maybe the eggs are due to hatch so they want the loft ...are the birds racing well ,are you seeing signs of respiratory ,maybe its something else ,canker maybe ,if I were to treat for respiratory my choice would be doxycycline or belgica de weerds orni special ,if you do treat be sure to treat for fungal/candida afterwards ,the racing should be a indicator of their health...as always these things need plenty background information before making a decision you need to analyse all angles ...my birds are still breeding and only do about 15/20 minutes but not bothered as the cocks are driving the hens again and theirs the answer ...no medicating required just patience, hope you get to the bottom of it atb |

| Maybe you are using too many additives, some rather make the pigeons sick than do any good.
Try good food and the garlic, the latter everyday in the water crushed cloves not the commercial stuff.
Give it a try.
Regards.

| After 4 races are you loosing a lot of birds including experienced racers? Are you well behind the leaders with big gaps? Are the ones coming back looking like they just flew a marathon race and still looking rough the following day?
If yes to these there's a good chance the pigeons are sick. No good guessing at what's wrong you'll need specific advice and treatments if you decide to go that route.
If they are just off the pace come racedays and returns are good but later than they should be, and not exercising like you say, maybe they just lack fitness? Just a thought. Have you changed the feed mixture? Enough goodness in their grub? Are they getting what they require as atheletes? Could they be disturbed through the night by cats or something and getting no rest?
Good luck hope you get them sorted as the greater the distance races get then the more you'll be affected. |
