Sadly i do get up early like 5am and start doing house work, the neighbours dont like me hoovering at 5.15 for some reason

glad you dont live next door to me amanda, ive only just gone to bed around that time.....

Amanda why don't you have the birds out for exercise and spend the first 2 hours down the loft then you can do the hoovering much latter

Im sure the birds will enjoy the earlier mornings, and the way the feathers are falling off my naturals the extra time up there is needed at the moment.

mine are like that too amanda, one or two are nearly finished more or less and are looking well.....but some of the others are dropping to bits so its no wonder they wouldnt make it through the ybs season if they were racing, some have no neck feathers at the moment and are looking a bit scruffy....

Do's anyone on here use anything to stop the feathers blowing every where.
I saw a dvd and a guy in Belgium had a small piece of wood with 3-4 blocks of wood on it. When it was placed in a corner with the blocks on the floor, all the feathers seamed to be caught in there.

ive noticed that in my loft they all seem to go under the nestboxes as ive not coverd the gap in at the bottom, as i didnt want to encourage mice to nest in a dark safe place......

See were all the feathers collect and place a box in that corner to collect the feathers

I tried this before Don. The feathers collected thern around the side of the open box, and before you think daft arse mare yes the box was on its side so the feathers could go in

amanda, what about a vacume ? it would suck the feathers out when you clean out........

But knowing my luck, i'll end up sucking the pigeons into my dyson, well it is a animal

yes, my luck too.......if something can go wrong with me, it usually does.....

Try the vaccum when the pigeons are out of the loft and that will stop any accidents happening

seen a dvd a few weeks ago which featured german fanciers who were father and son called backs who sell/manufacture pigeon products.......in the loft they had a system of flexible hoses which went into every compartment via the cieling and all conected to a main compressor type machine in the office which was in the centre of the loft. when cleaning out all they did was take the vacume type pipe from the cieling and it would hoover up all the droppings and feathers into the central vacume.....

Good idear but is it practical for most fanciers

too costly david but nice if youve got money

true ian, and i think they had plenty.......would have saved time also as they were most likely very buisy with the feed buisiness...
