| plenty variety in mixtures now but is any maize type really any better than others?
Cribbs, bordeaux, dog tooth, popcorn, red french, even black maize nearly all in same mix.
My choice straight forward yellow cribs maize from vanroabeys |

| Dog tooth maize and horse beans order of the day when I was young, pigeons as fit as lops, long lived and far more capable than the majority of todays ROBOTS.
Load of rubbish talked about feed.
The way todays grains are grown make them unatural as opposed to horse and cow manure etc; of my youth.
Meat is not the same, pork no taste, beef rubbish, chickens killed at 8 weeks old full of chemicals etc; list endless.
Fanciers have won out of turn and do today fed on beans alone and with no treatments, unless necessary.
Believe a fancier knows it all if he/she can win every race, no treatment, lose no young or old birds and in the very best competition.
Let me know if you find one.
Regards. |

| Funnily enough, was talking with Joyce regards old time ... before her time shes says. When a lad, all stores had open sacks of nigh every thing. Some behind counter or the door. One near my house had at least 14 open sacks as such of dried. Rice, corn, maize, pea, date, prunes etc. etc. Most like a few traps behind lol. |

| Your wife is right Daz, I took orders out to customers on a bike with a basket on the front on a night and at weekends while still at school.
Rice, green peas and split peas etc; were all in sacks and weighed up in the shop into paper bags, different colours for different items.
Rememer brown and blue, also sugar the same.
My pigeons did very well from the practice.

| Lol Misty, Wife says 'Before her time' not mine. I remember well. Did a butcher's round. Morning and tea time. Also a Paper round, morning and teatime. Along with a Sunday morning.
Delivered the meat for school dinners, 150 yards from school each morning. Didn't want really before nine. So was always late for school having to take the bike back etc.

| Yes Daz, I also helped the butcher, Jaques, daughter Anne ( nice girl) took meat on bicyle as with groceries, got half a crown and a ox tail every Saturday.
Grocer and Butchers shops next to each other.
Went killing the pigs with the butcher round the farms at times.
All good experiences I would not have missed and enough events to write a book.
Most kids had a job of some sort, paper round etc;
Elder brother sold papers on a night going round shouting Pa a a pers in the street.
Would not have missed my childhood for anything around now a days.
Regards. |

| Maize. Corn. Some farmers taking it off already. Goes to the mill for a little drying if needed. All tested for Ear mould and Mycotoxins. Percentage allowed if for animal feed. Food grade very little. All the same protien and fat basically. Yellow is normal, other colours occur. Red Pioneer etc,. |

| We use a moulting mix with big maize, I don't know why but I hate it , I like small maize , maybe because it just doesn't look right I suppose, its huge . We use quality corn in race season but just moulting mix in winter with added wheat and barley sometimes |
