Well done also to all there concerned etc. Funny/tragic/sad thou maybe David Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes when comparing maybe those type of numbers in birds & members to the general past as such I suggest. yes misty, over the last couple of years we have had quite a few new members join, who are flying very well and making the racing competitive, and not allowing the same two fanciers to win every race like they used to do .

Back when they sent 15,000 odd birds to a race & had 500 plus type flying members & gave out 20 Fed positions in a typical result. If you finished 21st Smile Smile there on race day you were simply classed as a general also ran type of little importance Wink Wink The following, sadly are what turned out last weekend there in flyers in the local clubs here at around 240 odd miles for them. 2/2/2/3/4/4/4/5/6/6/7/8/8/8/10/13. had a read through your club results david, and the racing has been quite evenly spread out amongst your members, with different members having success instead of just the same one every week.

looks like a decent club, how many members do you have ?

yes i agree knackered, thats commitment for you eh , mr brook lives just near me and his birds are out come rain or shine 365 days a year, he lets them out for exercise around 4.30 every day and they fly for hours, sometimes until dark ........is that a good thing, i dont know, but no one can say he is not enthusiastic, after a lifetime of having pigeons the passion is still there cheers cheers afro

Me thinks, as I have said many times, in the results it should include how many each member
sends, gives a more reasoned accessment.

Feds here Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes country wide etc Smile Smile on average always have the number of the birds sent beside the owner's general name as such. Makes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes for some talking points at times, when the numbers come up type of thing, especially if one just happens somehow to be a world-renowned expert type of thing in a supposed racing sense  Wink  Wink. cheers

We had 3 well established clubs in our area, there were a few dual memberships but at least 100 fanciers were involved, and when the railways stopped transporting at times fanciers were limited to how many they could basket.

The one I flew in bought their own HQ with a flat above which was rented out.

Today the HQ has been sold and the club folded another club also folded and we now have one club with less than 20 members.

As I have said elsewhere, reults in the BHW show entries in some clubs as low as ONE.

Tis obvious that with all the technology now available and many different opportunities for the youngsters to participate in our sport will have far more competition for youngsters spare time.

Pity because it offers far more than ups, downs, highs, lows but also great satisfaction than looking into a I Pad 24 hoursa day.

Regards.

luckily our club has had an influx of new members over the last couple of years , we opened the radius to one and a half miles which allowed local fanciers who normally were just outside the radius to get in ..........i think that if we hadnt done this our club would have been finished in the next year or so.

the new members are doing well racing, and making it more competitive , its actually quite a good club now ..

no george i havnt raced for years, i think the last time i sent birds was around 5 - 6 years ago to a couple of young bird races .......i keep thinking of having a proper go at it but because i breed young birds every year to sell on the internet i cant do both, and do both justice, i think if i was to race i`d have to devote all my time on racing and not breeding to sell .

ive sold young birds on the internet every breeding season, for the last 5 -6 years, maybe more ........and in that time they have never failed to sell, this year i bred and sold 140 young birds, but i think its quite hard to sell older birds on there, never tried it but i think it would be hard .

young birds sell easy because the buyer can race them, plus it saves some of them breeding their own, plus also there are some fanciers who just cant breed a decent young bird.
