| i liked to train just to get the cobwebs off the old birds but ybs i liked to train before racing and then once per week thereafter for the first 5 races but the last few yb races i never trained as they were up near the 200 mark by then ...i think everyone is different in there methods but once you win with one then fanciers will stick with it no matter what |

| I think not training will sort them out for you, not necessarily finding the best racers but the best homers. In an ideal world they should manage to get home regardless but pigeon racing at this time I think YB's need some schooling before the first race. Luckily I work somewhere near the line of flight so can take them whenever I want but won't be making special journeys further down the road very often especially considering fuel prices right now. Seems those that have full teams of darkness YB, trained 4 or 5 days a week right through the season are the fanciers who get a hatful drop together on a race day. And frequently the top fliers with YBs end up most combined points in the club end of season. YB racing changed dramatically from a time used to learn babies the game for later life, to keen competition with multiple ring noms, breeder buyers, futurities, one lofts, etc, etc. Seems some big ££pots to win with YB nowadays. |

Tossing for the most part I suggest maybe Barnie is one of those feel good type moments etc more so for the owner as such makes them feel rather good that they are doing the right thing by their birds, but in actual fact it's doing more harm than good in many cases when comparing losses today to back when . If a man has to finely make a judgement in the end to race or not race because of tossing, old age & the the loss of a car as such. just do what you can do I say in your own way & enjoy the birds for what they actually are & don't worry about what others may perhaps say/think as to what is right or wrong type of thing. End of the day most of us know little I suspect of what goes on in our birds mind at times, if they have a total love of there home environment & the desire to reach home on race day as an example. |
