Ambition in sport

i think we have 20 or 21 members in our club, its grown well over the last couple of seasons, a couple of years ago i thought the club wouldnt last much longer, but due to the new influx of members it should keep going for quite a while longer ....

that's good David i would like to be in a club one here has very few members but they don't have non racing members

is that just their own club rule george ...?

Does really matter from my perspective here George our sport in general is dying, Big Time & it's because I'm   certain small minded people find ways somehow to exclude members from joining their exclusive zone in a pigeon type sense at times.

Possible maybe still shouldn't exclude one from being a social type member I suggest & one could ask maybe George how many folk have perhaps voted on a subject as a flying member & then disappear totally when the season finely comes round as such.

True & then grumble, grumble grumble when they somehow disapprove of some decision made there as such George.

i dont race my birds, thats why i dont get involved in decision making over racing etc or vote on anything to do with racing ......if i did race it would be different .

were you racing when you joined the club David

not really george, ive been in the club around 10 years, probably raced about 12 races in that time ........ive never been a regular sender each week .

we do have a member who raced regularly and about 4 - 5 years ago asked to become a none flying member, it had to be voted on by the members and it was accepted with the provision a vote had to be done again if he ever wanted to race again .

not sure wht money he pays in subs/ fees etc , but it will be a reduced rate .

i did ask and was told should not be a problem must have been heard nothing since

Cannot see the point in being a none flying member unless you do so to help in running the club, secratary etc;

What I have seen is fanciers staying members to cause trouble when members of other clubs and others hanging on in the hope the club folds and there is a pay out.

Funny old sport.

We bought corn for members at one time on an honesty basis, unfortunately
had to stop the figures did not add up at the balance sheet end.

Can see a previous flying member staying in the club if they still keep pigeons but not the others.

This old fossil here is a bit like that in certain ways Misty I'm Haven't been to one of my old clubs in years down here, since Noah was a boy type of thing yet I'm still able to turn up at any meeting there at any time & have my say & vote on any subject matter as such if I so choose & most modern day members there these days wouldn't have a clue who I was etc I suspect. End of the day as you say Funny old sport/world, in certain ways.

Still nothing on the RPRA AGM George.

But loads of old stuff they leave on.

What good is going back years going to do other than show what a mess they have made of the sport.

We have lost a few members over the last 2 years. Just packed in no other reason than just not dedicated enough. 2 of them followed what the other one done anyway so I was expecting it . Nevermind we still have a strong club , maybe not in numbers but certainly quality

Known clubs where it was harder to win with a handful of members than in clubs with very high double figures.

Also known fanciers unable to compete form another club and not let the good fanciers in.

Would never have got any pleasure wining without good competition.

But at the same time known some great fanciers who never won anything but put their heart and soul into helping and participating for the sheer pleasure of
being involved.

Funny thing human nature.
