ive fed mine the same way for years now, i leave it as it is apart from stopping the avidress once this bottle has run out .....not paying £16.99 for it when it was £10 last year .

A Mr Kellaway who was loft manager to a top fancier wrote me an account on how to race pigeons in the form of a book like the school books we used.

Lost it when moving house.

One thing among many others he used old bricks and mortar crushed and left for the pigeons outside to pick at will, coal best black mineral.

That was at least 50 years ago.

I used most of his advice over the years and have been well rewarded for doing so.

coal dust heard of as kids we got free was it orange juice and cod liver oil dad took the oil to put over the pigeon corn that was early 50s

Was only young when contacted Mr Kellaway.

So would be around the same time as your father George.

We used to get milk orange juice and cod liver oil but I never used any for the pigeons.

But used many natural things.

Nothing cheap now George I think we are being ripped off left right and centre.

Just been out for a few minutes to feed the fish and fill the wild bird feeders, a blackbird was singing it's little heart out what a joy to just sit for few minutes and enjoy it.

started the big clean out this morning, i dont do a lot of cleaning out during breeding season as i dont want to disturb them ......obviously i dont let it get bad but i prefer the birds to be calm and disturbed as little as possible .

half way through the big section so hopefully it will be done over the next couple of days, as i only do a bit at a time .....

is age catching up with you as well David

catches up with us all eventually eh george ......

reason i dont spend all day on it really is other jobs need doing plus i need to look after my wife and see she is ok ....so ill do a bit at a time over the next few days then organise a skip or someone to come out with a van and take it away, as its all bagged up with the rubble etc

David £20 the binmen will take it all if you ask them

local fed have had to bring birds back to another race point hope to go at 12-30

i wish they would george, ours will leave it in the street and not empty it if its heavy, they used to leave my brown garden bin because it was too heavy for them.....i reported it to the council and they dont leave it now .

been getting updates on our club racing, they say its poor weather and cloudy on site .....race point is bovingdon

there was a boot sale near the site and was unsafe to release the birds as i understand it

our birds were liberated at 2.00pm in a WNW wind .... 148 miles .

would that be a stiff race for you David

Wrong time of the year to have bad races can ruin the season.
