Racing System - Natural Immunity

once we have healthy offspring, next is to make them strong
In the beginning I was told to do preventive courses to be them healthy. But I realized I was not making them healthy but weaker.
In race truck where we have all pigeons together, only one can survive who trained to beat disease by itself. Those preventive courses were preventing them not to develop natural immunity.
Natural immunity small word but needs a lot of time and patience to develop. That was the phase where I discovered that I need to have super healthy breeders.Parents must not only has good pedigree but good health record too So I started reducing so called preventive antibiotics courses and moved toward individual treatment instead to flock. Instead of antibiotics , I started using herbs like cinnamon, turmeric ,garlic and acv on regular basis. Vaccination on defined intervals to increase immunity memory cells. It took almost 3 years and I started seeing that pigeons diseases reduced. If any pigeon looks off , I treat it individually 2-3 days and all set
Also I made rule that if individual is showing symptoms again and again, it should take rest at home (or someone else home) for life instead of putting him in line of duty :p
our pigeons have to travel with many others and they need to fly over different terrain and weather from city to city. we should not pamper them , we should raise warriors they can face it when they are prepared .

Pointed this out tanveerhbiag over 60 years ago and numerous times since, in both our BHW and the RP.

Also recently on this site, you cannot build immunity overnight.

You also have to cull expensive pigeons if they fail the test.

That is when the real trouble started, fanciers and studs were not willing to cull the unhealthy carriers etc; so they bred their like hence the present situation where fanciers have to use everything in the way of treatments etc;

Would take many years to have pigeons as healthy as 80 years ago.

The only thing I used was garlic in the water every day, crushed section of clove.

Read about Roman soldiers having to eat it every a day to build their immunity.

Took time but had a team of healthy pigeons not suceptable to the carriers deceases, they won more than their share a both racing and showing and could take no more than half an hour a day to deal with

Let many fanciers have gift pigeons and cannot think of one that did not win with them or their offspring.

Motto has always been, KEEP AS NEAR TO NATURE AS POSSIBLE.
