| yes it does pay corn bill or next weeks race bill we have three sets of pool money 1st 2nd and 3rd about £100-£60-£40 so you could pick up £200 if you get the right ones, its nice to get but its the cards that count |

| Ian
I am the first person to pool the birds if there is good money to win but there are many clubs were you are flying for your own money
Yes the card means a lot due to the fact it proves what the pigeon has won and that can not be taken away once won |

| is the pool monies roughly the same in most clubs, 100, 60 and 40 ? i know it will depend on how many members pool their birds but thats good money if you win it....i never remember it being anything like that when i raced before..... although, reading through the racing pigeon weekly when reading the winnings that the high prize winners have won, it seems very poor in some clubs and either less or very slightly more than we got 20 years ago.... its no longer a cheap hoby, and its a good job most fanciers race for the love of it as the outlay involved in being a pigeon racer will never be recovered or even partly recovered, unless your a top flyer maybe..... |

| true ian, the pedigree is only as genuine as the man who wrote it, lets face it you or i could say a yb was off a fed winner and i fact it could be out of a couple of feeders who had never even been in the clock....thats it, whos to know ? |

| The only way you can say that you have the real thing is if you buy a complete round of young birds |

| For me the best way to buy pigeons young birds is if the person selling them gives you the pick and what is left he races then you know it is left to your judgement |

| we all look to see what type of breed it is and the kind of parents the pigeon is bred from but can you race the pedigree its the pigeon you race but if it turns out to be a champion then you can see what it is from and get more pigeons from that line
The value of the pedigree is not of a high value its the pigeon what counts |

| Must say i am a big Eyesign fan but as i tell everyone I KNOW NOTHING about eyesign
When pairing it is always best to best the best racing cock to the best racing hen, then the way thet handle and the eye
Will say had an old hen sitabault (sorry about the spelling) had loads of winners from her and she was only paired to my dads own cock nothing special at all and she breed winners with different cocks every year
My only regret was not buting something special to pair to her |

| don ive read a lot on eyesign and many people have said, never pair a pearl eye to another pearl eye...even jack barkel gave me reasons including the background of the pearl eye and said not to pair them togeather...... ive come to the conclusion that if the birds are distance pigeons then do not put pearl to pearl....but if they are sprinters then it can be of benefit to pair pearl to pearl. the janssen bros recommend doing this.... |

| The only reason i got into eyesign was through terry lodge who gave a show in our area and he introduced bill carney and it just facinated me what he found out just from looking at the eye and that is how i got start
More curiosity than anything

| When i had my Janssen Van Den Bosch they had pearl/ violet eyes so there were many times you were pairing the same eyes together but they still managed to win a little |

| don this is an email jack barkel sent to me about the pearl eye... Hello David, I would never put two pearl eyes together, although there will be some good progeny in their gene pool it will be in the minority. Pearl is recessive and comes from the fancy pigeons that were added to the Dragoons and English Carriers to give them more bouyancy. To breed to two pearl eyes is to breed out the homing instinct and marathon capabilities of the racing pigeon. There is much more than this to the theory, but this is it in a nutshell. Keep Well Jack if you want his contact details i will send them to you... |

| i would interprit jacks message as follows... when he says it breeds out the marathon capabilities i presume he means distance flying ? so therefor do not put pear to pearl if they are long distance birds. when jack says they were introduced to give more bouyancy, i take this to mean a faster flying bird.....so therefor if sprinters it is ok to put pearl to pearl... what do members interprit the email as ? |
