i seen some ranshackle lofts in my time and funny enough most flew good birds to them i once asked an old guy how he flew so well to that old shed he replied when it chucked it doon with rain his loft was always bone dry and the birds where happy as the shed was well ventalated and he said remember never judge a book by its cover its whats inside not out side that counts from that day to this i always think the bonnie lofts is for the fanciers and keeps the wife and neibours off your back sean That old guy !!!!!! was a very wise man Sean. Thou I'm all for nice lofts etc just to keep the neighbours happy type of thing. Certainly dryness is part of the secret in my view & that is why there is still a place for the chicken coop style lofts etc . I just posted about a hard race we had here at the weekend etc. The winner is what we call a country pigeon etc. Old flyer, old type pigeons (nothing fancy) & the pigeon/flyer that looks like finishing 5th, early the next morning here, is an old club mate of mine (good worker for his fed) but his loft is an utter disgrace I'm afraid I would have to say, so not for the purists . The pigeon thou that he clocked is an absolute cracker, as she was clocked early on in the season (4th Fed, all day fly) when there were not many home on the day etc & so what ever one may think of her loft, one would have to say, she just loves her enviroment where she sleeps. My mate thou, cheeky type (little fat bloke) has already put an order in, for the first round of eggs off her (Smart man). ***** |
