| had my ybs out this morning and saw them look up at the sky....flying past were 2 hawks both togeather, luckily they took no notice of my 4 ybs and thay came straight in when i called them.....another pigeon man had hes out, about 40 of them and the hawks circled round near them but didnt attemp to attack, so presume they must have had dinner for the day. |

| david sounds like they were kestrels they dont bother the pigeons , i dont know if its true but some of our members are puting a spinning orange light on loft this stops the hawk from attacking them in the garden you know the ones you use for breakdown wagons , the pigeons get used to it fairly quickly , it doesnt bother them, |

| yes ian seen them for sale on ebay, ive heard that cds around the loft, a balloon with big eyes on and an eagle owl figure will keep them away but i dont know if any of it is true but if it is then its worth it i suppose.... niels idea sounds good, imagine if you could do that and chase them away... the two i saw were a light brown colour with a thin slender body, thin pionted wings and no neck....at first i thought they were little doves that are round our area....but they werent. |

| no its not ian, had one took last year and i knew something was wrong but didnt know what and left it...a blue cock was on my garage roof, which they never do normally... i looked out of the bedroom window and it was just still and not moving at all and i just thought it was starange and didnt bother , then the next minute i looked it was gone and never to be seen again....the bird was almost moulted out so it was not a baby that had flown off so im sure it could only have been a hawk.... ive had a couple of attempts on my birds since but luckily they have not got any... |

| If you have hawk problems the best thing to do from my point of veiw is if you can not have your pigeons out to exercise, then train them at least you can get some flying time on there wings from training if not round the loft |

| yes don, your right at least they would be getting some flying time in....ive notice that when a fancier near me has his birds out the hawk circles above, and round a bout but doesnt attack.....the man concerned has about 40 to 50 birds flying a the hawk seems put off by this, do you think it has any thing to do with numbers as to why it doesnt attack as i only have a few and im always on alert for attack.... what do you think ? |

| I have heared that there is more chance that your pigeons will be attacked if in small numbers
But with your freind having a large amount of pigeons flying at anyone time this may be putting the hawk of |

| the pigeons also look very fit and flying with purpose and speed....ive read that a hawk will single out a bird which is unwell or weaker than the rest and go for the easy target....? |
