| At present and over the last week temperature in loft 58f, i think this is not bad for November. Any thoughts on ideal temperature for the loft. If i can hold it like this, i think it will be ideal for breeding. |

| weather paterns over the last 3 years have been warm for early breeding the problem lies when you cant get them out come feb and march it always seems to be misty and raining they youngbirds get big and strong and off they go
we going to give it a go this year but i do feel the same weather will come it seems as if its found a new way of getting colder the later we go on its a chance you take i guess we have lights in the loft and will extend the hours of light in the next 2 weeks also the heaters will go on this is only for the stock birds |

mid 70's f is optimum but of course its about the humidity in a loft too and air flow a combination of the three working together ...atb |

| pigeons don't realy need the warmth for early breeding more so a constant temp and drie as all ways fit birds will pair and go down on eggs at any time of the year as long as they are in condition jmo |

| I intend to mate stock birds about Dec 15th or so. Some years it is 2o to 30 below freezing. Use a night lite. Comes in when it gets dark. Have a biscuit tin with a hole cut in top lid. Run a small extension cord into the tin with a 15 watt energy saver bulb. Usually stops the drinker from freezing but not always. Youngsters when weaned go into a loft with an aviary. Sometimes it is a month before they get out. Yes strong on the wing but lost very few. No heat. Have seen parents feeding young when the box has snow blown in it. Long as they have lots of feed no problem. |

| Not sure about the UK but Winter is approaching fast here. Nights and some days below freezing. Which sparks the movement of rodents seeking shelter. Over the years have trapped or shot cats, raccoon's, skunk, rats, weasel, opossums. Caught a rat yesterday so now all lofts are baited underneath with rat bait. Soon will put out Coca cola and fly bait. Kill s raccoons pretty fast. Do not like to kill them. Catch and release just does not work. |
