That is an old photo, anyway what i wanna say is, the pigeons and the fancier must both be good otherwise worth nothing . There are no pure strain left ,only good familys

niel, ive always thought when ive heard the comment "the basket will sort them out" that it is not completely true,i know we all say it at some time but all he same i dont think its a true method of selection as if the birds get lost we assume they are no good or if they dont win a race we assune they are no good.....my thinking is that if the fancier does not have his management right and he doesnt do his job properly, then how is it the pigeons fault? ill bet there has been many a champion ruined or lost because a pigeon man doesnt know what he is doing....

I agree with a lot of things you say David, but must say i disagree with you there, the bird must have an ablility to get home alone, not with the pack, only way to sort that , single up tossing (basket) Fancier must be sure birds is healthy, and in good condition though.(fit etc.) Only my opinion.

hi nie, yes i agree...they must have something in their heads and have some sort of racing ability....the piont i am making is that when a fancier says the bird is no good because the basket ie racing/training has sorted them out, it is not always the case that the birds are no good as im saying if a fanciersd management is shit then how can he blame the bird? you cant just expect to throw a pigeon into a basket and it win.....

niel, to quote malcolm again....he says "you can buy the birds but you cant buy the man" because the man is the management and if that is wrong what are they going to win ?

If my management is 100% correct, in all circumstances, And the pigeon cant do it, what more management could i do to help the bird. So you would say: Your management is up to shit. I would say: David, i follow every rule in the book. What would you say to me then?

i would say to you the birds are shit.....if you or any other fancier can say they are 100% right in their management and are not winning the only thing wrong can be the birds..... the piont i am saying is niel is that when some fanciers say the birds are no good, sometimes it is the fancier who is no good and not the birds....

sometimes tho you dont have to be the best pigeon man in the world if the birds are right they will win not really the best you can do but you will get your turn with the right birds

i think winning, pigeons and fanciers all come in different shapes and sizes,so to speak....and we/they are all different thats what makes the hobby/sport of racing pigeons so interesting as its all trial and error mainly isnt it? the thing is tho some fanciers might think they are 100% in their methods/management but are they? i might think im spot on with my routine but if someone else came to my loft they might think its like a circus act ....

The biggest problem is people want pure strains and there is no pure strain

The strain is only the fanciers flying and winning with that team of pigeons
