Strange Bird.........

got a yearling hen, unpaired, quite tame and friendly....always sits on me and eats from my hand etc....noticed a few days ago she`s thrown a cock and hen out of there nest box, and took there two 15 day old ybs off them, shes always in the box huddled up in the bowl with them, wont let the parents near them

p.s. I know its late to have ybs in the nest, but these hatched by mistake

yes it is colin, might have motivated it to race well eh.......altho some of my ybs are pairing up lately, not sure its a good thing or a bad thing

Mistakes happen all the time David I suggest & truth be told many mistake type pigeons turn into real bottlers of race pigeons come race day.

They say there is nothing stranger than folk.

But our feathered friends come a close second, when fanciers recount all that they have experienced and I agree with Knackered that some of the best come from unusual circumstances and I may add by chance.

The best motivation is the love of the loft and the inhabitants, get that right and BINGO.

shes been like this a while ago Darren, seems to hang around with any of the ybs before they are weaned, if they come out of the nest box........

kicked the ybs out now, sat her own 2 eggs...........

thankfully the ybs will be gone this week
