MM mmm …. How true. David. Of course we all do.
Mind you, isn't it the sad case that the birds that struggle and wins through hard and distances races are the ones sought after to improve, or start a Stock.
Fortunately - hopefully, these races don't happen too often in a good race season.
Remember at seasons end. The vast majority recognizes only winners in real terms.
Of course if one wants a good buy at a bargain price, he maybe should look at the lofts in a not so good location and THEIR bird's merit.
We all know that in the vast majority of races, better birds attain lesser places and merit — wind, locations etc. which of course none of us has a bearing on the result.
Indeed do we say that by and large the better fanciers live in say Newcastle or say the East coast. That Louth fanciers, flying far, far shorter distances and to East have better velocities because they are better fanciers!
On the other hand one often hears the ridiculous statement from those in a better location say 'IF the bird is good enough, it will win whatever the condition or locations... they just have to try harder and make their bird better'! What tosh!
The simple reality is that regardless of where one lives, most are getting the best out of their birds! Plus is a fancier on the East side in a westerly wind has his bird at 100% condition, and race fit and in Super Form then just how the hell can one improve their bird better while living says 25 miles West of them!
So let's not distract from the 'Winner'! No not at all, but let us give credit where credit is due, and to those that birds deserve the merit.
I think most do actually.
