Youngbird 1995
5th Club Wincanton 101 miles following week
1st Club Dorchester 127 miles, 1st Ring Special, 1st Nom, 15th Fed, the following week was told not send him back
1st Club Cherbough 203 miles, 1st Nom, 1st Fed Championship, 5th Fed
The young cock that achived this had paired to his nan and chipped 2 youngsters, when he started to make a show removed the hen and one youngster so he was looking after one youngster on his own |

| good pigeon he was Don, well done
we had something similar a few years back, possiby 1994 or 95, we had a young chequer Lefebre Dhaennen cock paired to an old hen,,,,,,sent him to midweek race were he won 1st club, 3 days later sent him back to saturday club were he won 1st club, 3 days later back to midweek club were he won 2nd club.......3 days later he didnt quite look himself (dont know why or how, just slightly different if you know what i mean)......sent him back and.................................never saw him again
Pushed him one race to many.............this taught us a big lesson, IF IN DOUBT LEAVE THEM OUT
We lost a possible champion that day |

| Mark that cock.s nan which he was paired to was a dark stitabault and it is her who won in the eyesign class at NEC
Me and my dad never had top pigeons but she was a goldmine mate she cost £5 in 1987 and came from a person called Dennis Duffy of Bilston, he was a good flyer and he gave us the pick of his loft (youngbirds) my dad picked her out fairplay to him
Mark every thing this hen was paired to breed 90% of the youngsters won, the funny thing about this hen was that she was absolutley crap at racing, trainingg up to 50 miles take most of the day, race up to 100 miles take all day over that she would night out and yes anyone else would have got rid of her but as i made my dad buy her and everytime Dennis saw me he would ask about her so we kept her (well my dad did just to shut me up LOL)
Her first youngsters 4 in total lost 1, the other 3 scored minor prizes 2,3,4 ect and that was the start of her staying, but for me there was something about her as the pigeons we had were not the best mate just medioka if you know what i mean
But will say as we all know it takes only one, but there is one thing which still gets to me is i never had her photo taken with her eyesign on also when i could afford it i asked my dad he said no and that was another argument mate, my freind John Wheatcroft looked at her and said as time goes her eye will get better with age.
Me and my dad never won a fed race but were 2nd twice and the 2 birds were from her, the first 2nd fed winner we were beat by a fancier who had not won for over 20 years and the club were 1,2,3 on the club 1989, the 2nd time was 1st club 2nd fed 1991 each time was beaten by half a yard, this was with the Worcestershire and District Fed with over 8,000+ pigeons
But will say was told that when you win a fed the pigeons trap like lightening and the 2 2nd fed winners trapped like lightening and if you had placed a brickwall in there way they would have gone straight through it no messing bet that was the same when your national winner came, mind on the job hay Mark
Will say if i was still with dad then i would be entering some of her blood for the one loft race |

We lost a possible champion that day Mark my dad did the same with that cock, he sent him to the 3 drop back races, and i told my dad not to send him and to leave him and let him moult as he had done his work over them few weeks but it was fistty cuffs again, but everytime he came you could see in his face he had put the effort in but was knacked but my dad would not listen to me When he was a yearling trained him looked a million dollors (beat this) and was coming well first or second pigeon everytime, come race day second pigeon let him out on the sunday for a bath, went into the loft the cock played up to me made a fuss of him before i let them out as i always like to get a bond with my birds, out they went had a quick 15/20 mins in the loft, that cock came to me on the landing made a fuss the struck off and still waiting for me to return mate, do not live in an area like yours were hawks are about mate, so that's a mind blower then hay |

| LOL, we have never ever had them trap like lightning mate (dad will back me up), ours in St.Helens and down here always do at least a lap of honour (and that is a good trap), we must feed them to well and still have to much energy when they get home. We have been beaten many many times by birds which we have seen arrive after ours but drop like stones from the sky.......while ours are still p*ssing about. An example of this was an old slatey cock we had, came from one race, clapped about for literally two and a half minutes around home then trapped to win the federation with 2000+ birds. Another was, we had three yearlings together in 1998 came like bullets bang on line, clapped about for nearly a minute then timed to take 1st, 2nd, 3rd fed then two minutes later our nom bird dropped to be timed to take 4th fed 2000+ birds So at least we know when we get them right, they will get clear of the other birds |

| funny that i had a dhanhan cock 2 years which had two wins ,he was off one of our best cocks who also had 2 wins including topping the fed a few years ago, anyway when he won 2 races we decided after his last race he was going into the stock loft...so we sent him to eastbourne only because he was jumping at the time, i do not like eastbourne as it is because we have lost good birds from this point over the years, quess what we lost him. we where gutted to say the least, but these things happen..he was one of the best looking cocks i have ever seen as well perfect in every way |
