Hi Phil It's just routine with young birds, my dad used to have food in front of them at all times, but when he let them out for a fly, sometimes three times a day, they would have their fly and I've counted to ten and 30 youngsters are all in the shed, it's what you install in them as little babies that counts. I went to Louis Cooremans this summer, and he is exactly the same, walks them in with a stick as squeakers, they never forget it, everyone should try it Fred

I agree about the plastic rings, I don't know about being colour blind, but they certainly don't like change, while this snow's been here, I've had to wear wellies, and they give them strange looks they don't like them at all and before you ask they are the green type, not the flowery kind

Ray, to be honest with you, you need to keep them tight with the grub at first, but its like your dog (if you've got one) once they know what you want, they usually oblige, sure you get the stubborn ones but they usually conform when they miss a feed.

ive found that if i wear cloths which are totally different from normal it makes the birds edgey, they seem to recognise my usuall blue top but if i wear a top with white stripes down the arms they dont like it........does anyone wear a loft coat all the time so it doesnt bother the birds by wearing something different....?

I used a whistle for the first time this year, it was good but I didn't keep it up, I also made myself a manequin a couple of years ago to tame the youngsters down, when I'm not there, only thing is it scared the pants off me everytime I went into the shed needless to say it's gone to the manequin graveyard
