| if they have had a fast race then yes
But if they have had a hard race then no as you may need them to recover quickly |

| funny though how fanciers all flying the same system all do different things to encourage them to get home as quick as possible.....take widowhood for example, we put the hen in the nestbox and let the cock look in at her and get wound up for maybe 5 mins, then when we opened the door and he went in we would pick him up and basket him....some fanciers let them both in the nestboxtogeather for about half an hour or so and then basket when the cock is low in the bowl with the hen stood over him.....plus there will be loads more methods which fanciers use and it works for them....... what routine do members have when basketing ? |

| ian, how long do you leave them togeather after return ? i read in r.p.weekly a fancier leaving the hens 1 hour after the first bird arrives back, so that if the second one gets back 10 minutes after, he gets to see his hen for 50 mins and so on.....if a bird gets back from the race an hour after the first bird he doesnt get to see his hen at all..... and the fancier says the cock soon gets to learn to be quicker next time... |
