| Well knackered, you just won't believe this......We have been raised for many years to believe you fellas switched over completely years ago. That we were quite evil children, and that our parents were trash. Now I'm all upset. I didn't think that our government teachers could tell a lie Seriously though, I have been measured in centimeters in the service. I was a little tipsy, but I remember that I felt taller! |

| We are metric in Canada. I do not really understand it. We are supposed to be bi- lingual. English and French. Do not understand French. Or Arabic which may be the next on the list. But again, not understanding French did have its drawbacks late 1800,s. My hometown in the UK, Hartlepool, on the coast, North Sea, saw a shipwreck. Monkey washd ashore on a piece of wood. It jabbered as monkeys do. We were at war with the French at that time. As no one understood it, it was classed as a French spy and hung to death. After a fair trial. Before my time so cannot comment on true or not. |

| Australia is a long way away. Yet in the small port of Rockhampton guy asked me were I was from. Told him Hartlepool. "Monkey hanger" he said. Word gets around! Only other claim to fame (?) was Jack London and Brian London. Cousins.

| Every thing to do with pigeons! In a round about way. Your brick layer friend, w have something in common. Quit the navy and went to work for Wimpey. Did plastering. Houses at Yeadon were poured concrete. But did have a few brick layers. Dying breed. Oh yes, we both keep pigeons! |

Austrian. Romedius was a great, great grandfather of mine here. Came here to cut lumber for the mines. Immigrated 30 years before montana became a state. Dad's side were English. They landed on the coast, got into some trouble borrowing cattle that the owner didn't want borrowed, and headed for kentucky. The whole clan left there a few years later and lead a wagon train to southwestern montana. They were all cowboys after that. |

Same here. I toss stones at no one. I knew several ww1 vets who had a hard time also. Some stuff can't be removed. |
