Decided to pair up !!!

feeding birds this morning and putting the second treatment for worms in the water, and decided to put the cocks and hens together.........its only a one day treatment, I did them 3 weeks ago, so I cant see it being any problem with pairing up, it will take at least 10 days to lay, then 19 days to hatch, so the wormer shouldn't be a problem......


got 100 rings to fill, time is running out

I've got to find my rings (when I wake up a little more). I was pulling out all the rings I bought and.....disaster! Broke the string holding them together! Rings under firewood pile, ect. Glad it is Friday!

I bought 40 rings a couple of years ago rom, looked high and low for them, had to smash all my eggs........months later I came across them behind the clock in the living room

Oh man! I can see myself doing that david . When I was at the club meeting last weekend, the guy who owns the digest told me he buys his own. I think, next year...I'm going that route.

give them to the mrs rom, that's the safest place, we tend to loose them because we have a head full of pigeons

We Perd on the 15th of December david We ended up buying 80 rings Just started hatching today

pairing next weekend ...I am ready now after a bit of work with a hammer and saw ,moving yearlings to widow section tomorrow morning ...happy breeding david hope all members have a good breeding season and a few good uns in yer teams atb

put the stock cocks in their sections ( A & B) couple of days or so until they decide which box they fancy.
hens all together in a different loft,there roaring more than the cocks...
got to re-think a couple of pairings then its goooooooo

aye i know filling bins up with beans, peas, all round mix, pellets and wheat n barley,next will be racemix and tk.

yep, mine are on all round mix and depurative, soon be time for the breeding mix, I think I`ll go with the gem breeding, pre mixed with pellets.

Only have to put the stock together as the race birds are still paired as I don't bother parting them just put nest bowls in and leave them to it stock birds have to be paired start looking at what is going to what ready for two weeks time after Blackpool show

I just let mine go to who ever they want, same mate as last year or change if they want........I cant see what I choose being any better.......

Another deep freeze week starting. Young are at an age and size now that is critical in this weather. Not fully feathered and too big for the parents to sit on. Fingers crossed here.

You must have hard the same conditions before Hal...how did they manage then ?

Many have been their Rom 2 suggestions etc the old coat hanger trick or     I'm an up market type of guy here & so I use a 1/8th welding rod type of thing, bent to suit the purpose as such.

I could believe that your laying to many blocks David etc. Cut your daily quota down I suggest & you should be able to remember such simple things, like missing rings .

Easy, easy way David & if one is totally honest with ones self most pairings we mate up each year   are a total load of crap etc on average.  

Yeah but planning on paper gets you thru the close season...

Good luck Hal. I thought about putting up a hardwired large radiant heater, just in case something happens like that to me. We have -30/40 F weather in February too.
