| LOFT LIST UPDATE June 29th, 2020 Good Afternoon
I have updated the current loft list.
We kept the birds in over the weekend due to racing going on and the gale force winds.
We will continue with there education each day this week when weather permits.
I will update this Wednesday evening with the latest.

| Oldstrain, No one knows what happens to many of our feathered friends in normal circumstances, when you have the OL situation there are far more chances of one becoming victim to circumstances that have nothing whatsoever to do with the quality of the pigeon.
If you enter then you do so knowing the chances something going wrong that no one has any control over is a possibility and it is no good anyone beating one selves up because of losses they are inevitable and none selective.
Your pigeons have done the syndicate proud in the past and having two in the hunt at this stage is not bad, some, the majority, may have none left in.
Still think they basket and train far too many times, every time is a threat.
Lets just look forward to having at least one in the final and if not then we will be in the same boat as the majority, and in some cases those who only enter a OLR.
Regards.

i fully agree darren, taking 1200 birds 4 miles is ridiculous , its surprising such experienced fanciers would do that ........... try not to be too disheartened darren, members know you did your best for them, you have no control over them once they are at the one loft, you played your part in breeding them and getting them there..........these things happen . |

| Only one winner. Unless observed who knows what happens to them? They all take the same chances. All on the same system. No point blaming the system or any aspect of it. It is what it is and folks know before they send. Just my thoughts anyway. |

| Agree Hal, but it would be interesting to know how many are culled because of disease, how many are reported to the RPRA and just what treatment is given ad lib.
The latter can only help the ill and possibly be detrimental to the healthy, think more information could be forth coming.

| Its a hard task to manage 1200 birds and make the right call and when birds go missing its disappointing and would be nice to no if they have been called because of illnesse or just lost |

| thing is david the one loft is located out in the country only villages about not like its a built up area and being tossed just outside that area...i get the basket training aspect but not the short toss scenario, surely they look at next days weather before loading transporter

| WEDNESDAY July 1st, 2020 Good Evening
Well the weather has been against us this week but we did manage to train them today and liberated in 6 batches but only from the 4 mile point as the weather was very unpredictable and some of the batches were making hard work of it.
Tomorrow morning the forecast seems ok so will train again all being well.
Friday not looking so good but we will see.
Will update on Saturday morning with the latest.

| Cannot get my head round this 5 mile business , just exactly what is it supposed to do, other than give the raptors a free meal??????.
Not doing too good, wonder why ?????.
Would be better just letting them have open loft, less likely to lose to raptors and fly far more than five miles and be far fitter than spending most of the time in the loft.
I could of course be wrong but just cannot understand it myself.
Regards.

| dont want to be doom and gloom, but im inclined to agree misty, 4 and 5 mile is just giving the predators a meal .......i know the weather is bad, but exercise around the loft would be better . |

| well Owen, a very good fancier, used to go 10 miles tops up a valley early in mornings .. to be home before Percy was about. Seldom got hit.
In the 50's, those that could afford, or such would go 10 miles each day. Had very good returns. likewise those that never went anywhere. Just sent first of when loft fit.
I think, regardless of distance - for whatever some felt the birds needed it - the first must surely is to get them 'Mentally fit. then of course, physically fit. One can't be 100% unless the other is also. That's why keeping birds 90 - 95% fit and bring on the last bit for the races that they have planned for.
5! miles! 10!! 30!!! miles! Gosh the birds do more than that circling around the loft! |
