Hal, This Norwegian pigeon racer looks like he specializes in all white racing homers.Their eyes are different than my Pigeons. They have more of the typical read where as mine are bull eyed or black. Not sure why.
Good point, the majority of pure whites in my experience have bull/black eyes, as do many gay pieds. Not sure but maybe its because certain lines of whites have been bred purely to maintain the white colour without the need to develop racing or homing abilities, where those kept to race carry lines of non-white racers including many with coloured eyes. Genetics.

Do you ever see pure white entries in any of the pigeon races? Just curious.

There were White Plentix (sure spelling wrong} when I was a kid,
Neve knew anyone who raced them, but they were advertised, along with Barkers and Logans etc; etc;
Regards.

When I first started over here I imported from the UK Hammond and Whitaker Grooters. 2 pair. They arrived in a cardboard box with string around it. Bred off them for 3 years. All were pretty much useless. Think Daz knows Mikev. Beleive he raced a white one quite successfully.

Local bloke is into the wedding/funeral thing etc Hal with his whites as such. Busschaerts (wrong spelling) maybe is the name of the game for him by what I know. Never seen him put them in a race thou on basket night as he races more the flavour of the month type of birds these days down here now.

That's normal Knachered, I scare myself sometimes. I am pretty sure I will eventually get into racing but I don't want to jump around too much. When I do get into it I will probably have to give up something like the rollers and I'm not ready to do that yet. Also once I get a handle on pigeons in general then I can take the next step and get some good blood racers to start with so I don't waste any time. I am going to breed that feral to the racing hen and fly the heck out of the young next year for the fun and experience. It's going to be very fun I can't wait! I don't know if you saw the video "racing pigeon and feral pigeon" but the very next day he disappeared when a hawk flew through - No sign of him for four days. I had all the pigeons out and when the hawk came through they all scattered in every direction. All came back except him! on the fourth day I heard something under the house and when I opened the crawl space access door he came flying out! Man was I happy to see him. The only way he could have gotten under there is down the chimney! So either he jumped down it when he saw the hawk or ran into another pigeon and fell down into it. But that was just the beginning of his problems, He had to get back up 3 feet from the bottom of the chimney in complete darkness to where there is a 4" round duct cemented into the chimney and walk through it 90 degree turns and all to where it was disconnected from the old heating system. Somehow he did this and he was all black and dirty. What a survivor!! I hope his homing skills are as good as his survival skills. If so WOW.

Suggest White Dove his story of survival etc will be one you will long remember as such. Not a bad thing thou on average from my perspective, the hawk/falcon stirring your birds up at home at times. Better there for the first time, than being miles down the track & if you were out training your champs from my experience here.

Had few days holiday David, so fixed sections into place and made and fitted the sliding doors. After Christmas I'll make perches for yb section, and a cage on the front. Old bird sections can wait till spring and summer, how's your loft building going David?

not really colin, ive got all the boards for the floor, and the wood that i need now, but had to finish decorating in time for christmas .......once christmas is over a days work will get the floor nailed down to the joists, the front , back and side sections in place, and the roof joists fitted with a cover over to keep it dry .
then the roof tiles will get put on once i get a spare day again, and that should be the loft up with just nestboxes / perches to be fitted.
normally about a days work all in, but you know my snails pace .......

Brexit I suggest has set the new standard now David so a snails pace should be OK from my way of thinking . *****

Best looking loft I've ever seen Colin, I like the natural light coming in from the roof. Great job For some reason I'm not getting notifications anymore I have to look into it to see why. I used to get an Email when someone made a post. I stoped flying the birds because of a few Cooper's hawks that are passing through. They could be falcons - not sure, one took down one of the whites but I scared it off and the bird is going to be fine. I hope everyone and their family a great holiday season!!!

Glad to see you using some common sense etc White Dove Your champs will loose nothing there I suggest with you locking them all up till the airways are clear as such in fact many will be most grateful I suspect .
