| I dont where the birds wheir let go but if their was a tellephone mast around they would have flown around that for along time. then most of them would have gone the wrong way, its microwaves that comes from them and its affecting the wild birds as well, what a greed for money will do, it is disstroying the world never mind just birds |

| Yes a bird has been reported in Holland, I posted that on here at 12.15 this afternoon. I originaly figured they just flew the wrong way along the coast and would end up in Germany, this happend to some old experienced channel birds in the west coast fed some years ago.
They dont go near Belgium to race any more. I wish I owned last years winner of the Somerset race as I bet its a goldmine at stud, lol
The birds were liberated in clam weather at 7.15am in Brussells, (as the crow flies its around 130 miles to Ramsgate) from Brussells so the birds should have been in the UK around 10.30am at the latest if they had the metal to cross the channel before the wnds picked up at 12 noonish.
There are many weather forecasts on the day that confirm a calm channel until noonish, the only conclusion is they didnt want to cross at the time when they had plenty of chance, I agree that once the wind picked up crossing would be impossible but they had been on the wing for nearly 5 hours by the time any significant wind came.
Time will tell, when more birds are reported around Europe but until then we are all only guessing. I really hope some birds get back under their own steam but that is looking grim now. |

| what a disaster for all those young pigeons and what a loss i doubt if all of them went the wrong way before some would have turned back what i do think is to fly 130 mls before facing the channel is just asking a bit too much for young birds. in fact to have a few old birds to win a race like this would be a bonus in any loft |
