hows everyones young bird training going

how is your young bird training going we had 6 chucks up to now first race in 2 weeks approx 70 miles upping the distance to 15 miles in the morning

starting this week, hoping to get them up to about 12 miles myself, then sending them with the club trainer......I think our first race is about 3 or 4 weeks from Newark 56 miles.....

thats a handy start best if you get a head wind though to stop um going over as many do no matter how much you train them they will probley pass by our lofts

my ybs r coming well, had them at 30 mile for ages, there ready now just put them on there racing regime now i.e there feeding routine so we shall see if im hero or zero in a couple of months    

well thats the first 15 miler out the way all home safe back there tuesday

have been at 15 miles for a few tosses now all going well so far, last week i sent 4 with a local group to sleeford which is 52 mile to me, had first one back after 1 hour 5 mins second 1 hour 10 mins 3rd 3 hours 4th following morning, so really pleased with them.  

starting tomorrow from a couple of miles then building up over the week.........hope ive not left it too late

good luck with the training David, would be interested to find out how you go....are you using a specific method\crtiterea for the training....

im doing what I always do every year stu, start off at a couple of miles a few times, then progress to about 5 or 6 miles.......when ive had them there maybe about 3 times I will move them up to 10 - 12 miles. Once they have been there for about 4 times and they are getting home before me then I can leave them with our club trainer who will move them up to approx. 25 - 30 miles hopefully before the first race at Newark 56 miles.

others do it differently stu, but I like to stick to this method as I rarely loose ybs whilst training this way......JMO

had all the y/b out at 5am all back then went training we have a b team that was weaned on 27th of may and even they went to 7 miles all home i think y/b are smarter than we think the A team went 17 miles again all home 8 more chucks then race day

thinking of bypassing the 2 mile stage and going straight to 6 miles, havnt much time left before the first race so no time to waste............planning on exercising round home first, basketing then taking them training, but maybe not today as the forecast isn't too good for later this afternoon.......  

thats what we do every day they go out first to take the sting out there tails and it works as for the B team they went to 6 miles and we are going to push on with them just to see how fast they have learnt as i said they were weaned may 27th weather here is red hot today we go training soon as they come back from there flight and they dont go out again till next morning its seems to be working well but ya have to be out ya bed early ie as day breaks     

p.s and we see many liberate just after 5 am every morning so it goes to show others wake earlier than us ive lost count of the teams of y/b that pass our lofts in the mornings heading back up north

strange I always thought daybreak was around 12,30 pm when I let mine out...........       

Were coming well until yesterday took 53 as of 9,o'clock this morning 34,back well pissed off it were there 5th toss only 10,miles  they were coming back in ones all the signs of a hit just hope some more get back all are wing stamped and are all NWHU rung none reported yet but hope some do.

was going to go to the layby towards methyl today stuart, but seen the forecast was bad for this afternoon.........all being well ill be going tomorrow, and hoping for pontifract race course Monday.    

landing board training is going well   

My young birds are at 30 mile , scratching my head at the moment with them up until last week they were home before me, since then ive got home 5 mins before them and dropped two ah well happy days

Had another back this afternoon and going to pick another up tonight so 36back

not started yet..next week i hope

all home safe again sat 2 hours on the m1 ffs and i left at 6.30 am poxy road gets worse

Easing my ybs Down a little now just 3 tosses a week plus loft exercise, there ready now just letting them tick over like a boxer in the last week b4 fight night    

first one today, missed out the 2 mile one and went straight to 5 - 6 miles.....when I got home all were pecking in the garden so they came straight back probably because they had done over an hour before hand........

will start building the training up now for the first Newark 56 mile race.........
