- hi malcolm, have you had your ybs training today....cant remember if ive asked you already but how far into the moult are your ybs?with you pairing up in jan are they more or less through the body moult by now? and when you said you were letting them pair up would this alter the wing moult?
Most of them are on the second secondry now, some third. I have decided to let them get on with it and my hope is to get the early races in, well up the sheet and let the other races look after themselves. Malcolm |

| Hi Malcolm
Remember going to an old fancier's loft and he would place burnt wood from his fire in the loft and the pigeons went mad for it |

Even better if you can get it is the soil from fresh mole hills, what the pigeons find in these things seems to be minerals of some sort that you cannot buy. My birds go barmy for Redstone grit and they will eat it until there droppings are like brickdust. Have you tried chopping a lettuce up and putting it in the loft? There are so many things that seem good for pigeons that we would not consider. Malcolm, |

| Remember seeing a video about a flyer in belgium who also smashed clay bricks up and place the bits in pots for the pigeons |

Hi Don, As much as I would like to jot down my years in the pigeon game I fear the cost of writing a book is far too expensive. I told you that I am half way through a book about my early years in the war and after speaking with other writers and publishers I was sad to learn that it would cost £5000 to have it printed. This is because it would have to be printed on a private basis with a percentage of sales going to the publisher too. However, I would be pleased to answer any questions that you may have and providing that I have some knowledge of the topic then I would be delighted to do so, were you to require a PM for any reply then just say so. Malcolm. |

| malcolm and don, ive been using "matrix" for my birds for the last year and they love it....its a combination of minerals, vitamins, amino acids, minerals, grit etc.....it also has charcoal and aniseed, plus all sorts of other things in it, the birds go mad for it especially when they are feeding ybs. its about 10 pound a 5kg tub but with me only having a few birds it lasts quite a while. |

Thanks Dave, but at the moment I have late breds coming out of my ears! having had many offers today. The letdown was from Top Man Albert Babington but he has problems with his wifes health and pigeons are low on his list of priority just now and the letdown could not be helped. To be honest, if I had old birds I would not dream of bringing in Ybs from other lofts but my 14 is not enough to get started again. Bringing in birds can be very risky! Malcolm. You never said where you are. |

i dont think they are because most winners are either cheq or blue, i dont see any reason why they shouldnt be as colour shouldnt make any difference should it.... do grizzles, blacks or white pigeons make champions ? i dont see many but who knows ??? |

| david the only reason you dont see many maleys and reds as winners is because there are not as many birds these colours the most common colours are blues and chequers hence more wins but they have been some good reds and maleys just as good if not better |

| In my country it is always a bluebar, or blue cheq , winning in the big money races, never, never a mealy or red cheq? |
