if a fancier isnt doing too well the only things it could be is either the birds are not up to scratch or the fanciers methods arnt quite right, with the help ive received off our members all i can do is try and if they are no good ill decide if its me or the birds......this is what you need to do mark and im sure our members will let you have ybs next year and also gie you sound advise too, so dont pack in without giving it another try yet..........

it,s very hard to get out of a rut when your your racing bad and the pigeons arn,t performing like they should like some one said it could be many things ventilation, respiratory,e-coli worms the list is endless or the most common one of all is the fancier him self , just take a step back and ask your self a few questions are you putting enough time in with them are you feeding the right corn are you training enough or to much . i know it,s hard when your working full time but you only get out of it what you put in i see to my birds before work at lunch time then at night for a hour or so so in total i spend about 2 to 3 hour a day with them but if your doing all this and there still not performing then i think it,s the birds , so keep your chin up at the end of the day it gets us out of the house and its only a hobby there is worse things that happen if you want any thing just pm me cheers kev .

good advise kev, i personally listen to all advise given by members or fanciers i know........i then try to decide which is best for me, my birds and the time i have available, lately ive been having alsorts of problems with the ybs and when i try to put it right i jst suceed in making things worse......and the way things are at present ill be lucky to even race ybs but could maybe get them into the last comeback race, im not giving up trying and neither should you mark......if the birds or your system/management are not quite right i wouldnt chop and change just learn something different for next season. also remember, most pigeons are rubbish.........even if they have a pedigree a mile long and are bred from the best available, most are crap

withg the yb . hi kev, mainly feeding.......either too hungry or too full, which makes problems getting them in after exercise. also ybs not flying and introducing younger birds into the older ybs sections, theres not a right lot of time left before yb racing and im miles behind in every way with them..... |

i only let mine out once a day after ive got the old birds in i only give them a little bit of corn in the morning just to take the hunger away like you i keep putting in younger birds with the older ones because i dont race yb im not to botherd about them getting flying to soon , but you still got till july to get them ready how many yb have you got .

hi mark , how long you been racing and when was the last time you bought in new blood , when i moved down to somerset from yorkshire i had a four year break from the pigeons it drove me mad but when i started again it was with a totaly different strain of bird and ive realy enjoyed testing them out at the distance races with the NFC untill i came down here i would never have tried national racing back in yorkshire but down here we are one of the first drops , all im trying to say is try some thing different may be classic or national racing where inland racing is just to get them fit and not to try beating the sprint men good look in what you do and keep us informed cheers kev .

hi kev, ive only got 11 older ybs as a cat kiled one the other day, then ive 16 younger birds which were weaned maybe 4 - 5 weeks ago and the most recent are 4 approx 4 days ago........ive got them in seperate sections but let them out togeather once a day, since i put them on 2/3rds barley and 1/3 widowhood at weekend they have flown better but they should be bunching and the older should be off for an hour i think.
