| i cant see how all these regulations and restrictions will stop bird flu misty, some common sense procedures might do yes, but as per usual government going overboard.
it makes you wonder if its not all about control . |

it makes you wonder if its not all about control . I can understand that if it is a threat to humans then it has to be treated as other such problems have been dealt with in the past. As I have said previously, this virus has been around for hundreds of years and as far as I know no human has suffered from it. Think the problem may be that they think it is now attacking other species, as in a paper last week which said they have found it in a seals and other species. If it does mutate and affects humans in the same manner it wipes out millions of birds in a couple of days.??????????????????????????/ Regards. |

- 3rd lockdown coming
Would not have to worry about lockdowns George if it affected humans like it affects birds. Never heard of a bird recovering from it. Also the rate of transmission between those affected is apparently a bit rapid. But it has been around for hundreds of years so you would think that some must have survived it and become carriers that rear their heads periodically. But hey, racing just around the corner, lets enjoy what we have left. Regars. |

| Just been looking at the devastation caused by the tornado in America.
One could wonder why such events occur.
But if mankind had not interfered with every aspect of nature they would not have happened, tis the abuse of and the wrongful use of everything that mankind has laid his hands on that results in disaster.
Cannot imagine the implications of such an event, loss of material things is bad enough but it is only a scratch regarding mental anguish on many levels.
My heart goes out to those involved.
Think ARMAGEDDON is just round the corner.
Regards.

| Reading about the high percentage of losses currently experienced every year brought thoughts of when I started racing in 1951.
Cannot remember ever losing many other than in a complete fly away of youngsters nor other fanciers doing so.
In every mining village there were pigeon fanciers who spent all their time other than work with their pigeons or in the pub, some never ever went out of their village
However, not many fanciers swapped and changed their pigeons none from abroad and they kept the same pigeons in the same area for years without chopping and changing.
The real problem started when importing unhealthy pigeons from abroad.
Common sense would dictate that if pigeons are bred in a certain area for many years they become mentally attached to that area and their offspring likewise.
There was no real health problems the odd case of canker and one eyed cold is all I can remember.
Now every pigeon has to be treated for or protected against numerous different health problems never experienced years ago, mainly imported.
Been an ideal situation for the so called pigeon fanciers to jump on the band wagon and take fanciers for a ride in every aspect of the sport.
The RPRA have stood and watched the sport go from strength to nothing in my time.
Looking forward to the minutes of the latest AGM to see what was passed to improve the sport.???????????????????????/.
Regards.
There were more longer races than now.

They are a record of what went on at the AGM. How the voting went etc; If you put RPRA AGM MINUTES you can see the 2022 minutes. The 2023 are not up yet. Regards. |

| No George, maybe misled you a bit.
Should have said the AGM minutes of the 127th AGM held in 2023.
They are now available on line just read them.
They turned down the one that was important which would have stifled the power of the Council.
Otherwise run of the mill.
Regards.

| not a fan of putting 2023 rings on ybs in 2022, but i suppose it comes down to when they are ringed.......at the end of december isnt much of a problem in my view, when you consider the postage situation, as fanciers might have ybs ready and then the post doesnt come till middle of january .. |

| If it suits those involved in business and the big boys nothing will change.
Have advocated that when votes are taken on any matter those representing members wishes should be named as to how they voted, too many took no notice of a mandate and did what they wanted and those they represented had no idea their wishes had been ignored., they will now.
Only pigeons hatched from January the first are that years pigeons any before are the year they hatched pigeons.
Read where only a handful attend most Region meetings.
Said years ago, individual voting, easiest think possible, if the will is there even before the present technology was present.
The regions send out propositions and ask clubs to vote on them, all that needs is for every club to fill in how their club members vote for each proposition return the results to the region, who collate them and send the results to HQ who do the same for the regions results, called democracy a thing lacking in the RPRA for too many years.
The Clique have ruled the roost and some are still there.
Not one sport I can think of has gone as backward as ours.
I feel every General Manager has been sick of the whole set up, you do not give up a cushy number for nothing.
Regards.

| Need not all be doom and gloom.
Looks like there will be racing even though it appears they are making regulations that are as difficult as possible to adhere to.
barnie can come up with the photos of his young ones and we could pick out two we think will fly the best.
Can keep count of peel bros wins.
George's OL entries will add an interesting element.
Be good to see David's young ones make a good price.
Think we should make the best of what is left, before there is nothing left.
Regards.
