Hi David I would suggest one thing at a time, race your youngsters on the Dark learn that this year, its not that difficult, it gets you in a great routine, you cant beat a young hen on eggs, just enjoy them, I'm sure you will Health, motivation, good birds, what could be simpler

you don't have to put them on the dark till the clocks go forward, because then there's naturally more daylight than night, however, personally I put them on straight away, because I then get into the swing of it and it comes as second nature and as you'll probably find you'll forget to close them down or open them up Hands up, who says they've never forgot I know I have, especially in the beginning, but if you miss a day, don't panic. As long as you get back in the routine and that's why I start straight away hope this helps

I said you would doubt it, but try it and let me know, you have to be in there for more than ten minutes though Normally you see the pigeon shaking, like adrenalin, then you'll here the purring, honest, it's not a wind up.

just goes to show that if you dont spend time sat in with the birds you can miss what is going on.......with me spending time pairing my birds i neglected to sit in with a cock and 4 spare hens which i left to pair up on their own, each day i looked in and couldnt see any signs of him pairing up to one of them but today i decided to sit in and watch them.....within a few minutes i saw he was more or less paired to a ch hen so ill be putting him in the section with nest boxes tommorrow.....
