| hi fred, im hopeing to breed approx 26 - 30 ybs but as ive only 9 pairs pairs this will have to be done as they come and not in one round........what is the latest date for a yb to be hatched so that it will have enough time on the dark to be moulted enough to race in the yb program.....? |

| fred i have four pairs of stock birds i will be breeding four ybs off each pair (would liked to have bred six off each pair really) then i have five pairs or one and two year olds i will only be breeding two ybs each pair........so that should give me 26 ybs all being well,
if i let them all rear their own when they lay i will have 18 first round and then a second round off the four stock pair......will the eight second round sock ybs be on the dark long enough before its time to take the ybs off the dark before racing.....? |

| David, that took me a while to get my head round - must be the after effects of Blackpool, you will have to do the math yourself, but you only need to have them on it for 8-10 weeks, some have said 6 weeks, if you take them off the dark on the longest day, you can work it back from there.
hope this helps |

| hi i put my youngbirds on dark for 11 weeks i take them off the longest day orbourges race however some of the later youngens dont get as long and you can see the difference by the end of the racing season , starting to heavily moult , on the the last 4 -5 flights whereas the ones thats been on longer have eight and nine |
