There are far too many losses unexplained. Tis obvious having so many pigeons from different lofts, those entered will have varying health problems. The healthy could be made ill and the ill made better by flock treatment etc; I feel that the RPRA OL is far too overcrowded for both the health and the over all welfare of the pigeons and the management. No one can keep that many pigeons healthy, they can only flock treat to the benifit of some and detriment of others. The training is beyond belief and could be one of the root causes of losses. Think a real down to earth assessment is needed. Regards. |

I think several RPRA members should be picked to make periodic inspections (unannounced) of the whole set up, basketing, medication etc; etc;. Regards. |

| would the cost be high to chip each bird that way you could keep track of every bird any that dies must be reported to a vet |

I think every fancier is entitled to know what happens to his/her pigeons in OL races. Many migrating birds are chipped, as are some racing pigeons, easy to track. Cost wise to chip all OL birds I know not, but would be worth it as a one off just to see exactly what happens to the often 70 or 80% of entries. Think the problem is money rather than sport rules the day. But the RPRA OL has obvious short comings regarding training etc; and no one knows what goes down their throats. If they use flock treatment it will benefit the ill but be detrimental to the fit. Too many different scenarios involved for my liking. But as stated, a fancier is entitled to know the time his/her pigeon was no longer involved and why. Regards. |

What is going to happen George if the Flue problem affects a lot of those who have entered the OL races, if in control areas they will not be able to enter, nor will the OL loft be able to function under the same circumstances. Tis a real mess for fanciers all way round. Thing is cannot see matters improving. Just live in hope. Regards.. |

Found time flies George, does not seem two minutes since we were worried about seeing Christmas 2021 and Christmas 2022 just gone.
Lets just hope there are no more problems.

| i think the rpra one loft has quite a lot of birds die etc due to health problems, plus they will have quite a lot of losses off the loft roof and training, this is why nearly half are already gone before the first hot spot race.
avain flu has not or does not account for any losses as there hasnt ever been a case recorded of a racing pigeon catching it . |

Have you not had any feedback from youngsters you bred previously. If you breed a number at the same time and all parents are off winners I would pick the two best handling cocks, not easy when so young though, but you can tell the ones you do not like. Regards. |

| Will certainly be something to look forward to Knackered after all the present problems.
They get worse every day.
Harry is proving to be a drug addict and off his rocker according to the interviews on television, we need some good news before long or we will all be off our rockers.
Just hope that Blackpool goes well and racing is not affected by the flue problem.
As for ambition in our sport just hope things improve before too many fanciers get peed off.
Regards..
