best advice there get a small 6 x 4 shed and put a couple of v perches in there for 6 ybs that would be fine get the kids in there every day to calm them down |

| if you just want a few as pets golden i think i would agree with steve, a small garden shed would be easy to convert and would be fairly cheap to buy........
instead of putting the glass window in the shed you could have your landing board and bobs there, alternatively you could just fit a sputnic trap there instead..... |

| yeah i reckon best way mate is get a 6X4garden shed measure it to 4x4 then put a internal wire frame with a door in, that way you will have a 2x4 section to put a small corn bin, scraper and broom or dust pan and brush. Dont put glass in get a sputnik with perspex sides and top or make a mesh frame with a door to let them in and out.i would put a plastic sheet over the top so the rain doesnt get to the loft floor. if its a apex roof put a wire frame in the 4x4 section where it goes to square to stop the birds getting above you and getting a bit wild , before you attach it to the inside of the shed drill some holes about half to three quater inch around of fit a little vent at either end for air flow. at he bottom you will need to put another vent this keeps the air rising and going out at the top, line the vent at floor level to deture cats/foxes, i wouldnt put v perches i would go cheap, go to B&Q and buy some 2x1 baton about 8ft length, cut it in 2 and fix it across the 4x4 section, hinge it so it lifts so you can clean section so easy. the birds will love the perch.
hope that may help its how i would do it if i was starting again. |

| For six birds that will be ample mate. just make sure it's well ventilated. |

| golden if you are using overlap get advice as it will twist and warp which will leave gaps you may need extra framing or a deeper overlap in order to avoid this george |

| i agree with george, the lap type shed does warp so if it was me i would line it out with ply, its not expensive and would be a major improvement......... |

| we are going to build it using tanalised tonge and groove ply floor and roof, the shed building is not the problem,if there is anybody on here from the isle of wight i would love to have a look inside a loft so i could get a few ideas.
